Decimal odds
The European odds format, giving total return per one unit staked, so 2.50 returns 2.50 for every 1 bet, stake included.
Decimal odds express the total return per unit of stake. They are standard in Europe and Australia and on most crypto sportsbooks, and they are the easiest format for calculation.
Core relationships
- Return = stake × d.
- Profit = stake × (d minus 1).
- Implied probability = 1/d, which is also the break-even win rate.
Worked example
€75 at 3.20.
- Return: 75 × 3.20 = €240.
- Profit: €165.
- Break-even rate: 31.25%.
The UK fractional equivalent is 11/5 (3.20 minus 1 = 2.20 = 11/5). The American equivalent is +220.

Combining prices
Multi-leg bets multiply decimal odds directly: 1.80 × 2.10 = 3.78 for a two-leg parlay. Because displayed odds are rounded to two decimals, small differences between the payout you calculate and the one a bookmaker shows are normal.
