Random float

A number between 0 and 1 derived from a provably fair hash, which a game formula turns into a result.

A random float is the number between 0 and 1 that sits between the hash and the game result in provably fair games. The casino computes an HMAC from the server seed, client seed and nonce, then converts part of the output into a float.

Common conversions

  • Four bytes, each divided by increasing powers of 256 and added together.
  • The first 13 hex characters as a number, divided by 2^52.

Why it matters

Every game formula starts from this float. A dice roll scales it to 0 to 100, limbo divides 99 by one minus the float. If your float does not match the casino's, the result will not match either, so check this step first when verifying.
